Almost 1 year ago 42 of my closest friends and family along with my ‘fiance’ (who is a woman) got on a bus and drove 11 hours to Canada.  The next day we got married in my uncles barn in Burlington, Ontario Canada. It was the happiest day of my life and it was a BIG GAY WEDDING!!!! It’s really cool that we had the option to go north of the boarder to celebrate a tradition that’s still reserved for Men and Women in the United States. It would be even cooler if same-sex marriages were legal in this country. 

You would think that at the end of 2009 in such a liberal place as NEW YORK CITY this wouldn’t be cause for such debate. But it is. 

What makes it more ironic, is that at 18 years of age I moved to NYC  (from the small suburb of Burlington Ontario Canada) to experience a more liberal, advanced, enlightened life; but had to return to my small home town to marry the person I love.

Photographer Ellen von Unwerth is releasing a new book, Fraulein, authored by the legendary Ingrid Sischy, founder of Interview Magazine.

The book is not out until December and it contains previously unpublished pictures of Nadja Auermann, Christina Aguilera, Kate Moss, Alek Wek, Monica Belluci and others. These pictures were in von Unwerth’s personal collection and she decided to make a book out of them only recently. There are some very naughty accessories in the photos, from thigh high red stockings to lace masks, and loads of garter belts.

Ellen von Unwerth is the shit. She found fame when she first photographed Claudia Schiffer for Guess? Jeans.

She also took pics of Alicia Keys, another MM favorite, for Trace Magazine WAY back in the day.

EMAGEE has already stated she wants this book for Christmas. In October.

Halloween is definitely my favorite time of  year. The leaves are-a-fallin, the fashion is usually reaallly good and there’s a lot of creepy shit going on.  Every year I get really excited to check out the Marc Jacobs windows.  Any man who stacks his windows w/ bones and bodies is a-okay with me. Check out his madness: 

      Rachel Zoe is a bad mutha…SHUT YO’ MOUTH! I think it’s a combination of her ability to get Karl to alter his designs, her grappling use of the English language and her uncanny resemblance to our MADEME goddess Madonna.

      Peep how she just fills up on coffee while she “DIES, GOES BUH-NANAS, and gets UHMAZZED” over every piece she sees. It shows the true character of this high end vintage obsessed stylist who takes picking out a dress more seriously than eating. Allegedly.

    What keeps the MADEME crew watching is her Madonna-ness. Don’t get it twisted. There is only one Madge, Queen of the Universe and all things RAD, but we did a little research to prove our point. Check it out and tell us what you think!

So the rumors were true, Jean Paul Gaultier will be the next designer to do a mass collection for Target!! The collection will be released in 250 Target stores across the globe on March 7 2010. 

I don’t even like Target. I can barely stand to go into the damn store. Not because I am a hater but because if you’re going to be cheap, please don’t pretend to be nice. HOWEVER, this new partnership maybe the the incentive I need to get me into a Target.

REASONS WHY I WILL GO TO TARGET FOR THE JEAN PAUL GAULTIER COLLECTION:

1) In 2007 I broke bank for this original Jean Paul Gaultier 7-piece suit from THE BLONDE AMBITION TOUR (circa 1990). So, maybe now I won’t have to take out a 2nd mortgage on my apartment for some new goodies.

I must say, Jean Paul Gaultier has always been one of my favorite fags. I am definitely hoping for cone-bras, leotards, overalls, mesh crop tops, corsets — all the things girls secretly want but can’t in good conscious pay more than Target prices for.

Schmatta: Rags to Riches to Rags is Marc Levin’s documentary on the rise and fall of the Garment District. Tracing back to the origins of the NYC “rag trade”, Levin shows the Garment District as its peak—when approximately 95 percent of the clothing sold in the U.S. was made domestically, making it the number one employer in New York City. Needless to say, times have changed. Today, close to 95 percent of the clothing sold in the U.S. is made overseas, making the Garment District a shadow of what it used to be.

Schmatta (Yiddish for “rags”) tracks that devolution of the Garment District. As his documentary puts it, where the clothing business goes, so goes the economy.

This documentary is near and dear to Boss Lady, Emagee’s heart. She shlepped around the garment district for years before becoming Madame MadeMe. You have to pay the cost to be a boss.

SAVE THE GARMENT DISTRICT!

 I haven’t wanted to pick up a VICE  magazine in about 4 years, until I saw this cover the other day:

YUP, it’s Chloe from the 90′s. A time when I thought everything was cool. A time when everything seemed new to me. This cover blew me away, I was like “holy SHIT” remember Chloe in those X-Girl ads?!?! That’s when women’s ‘streetwear’ was new and actually kinda cool. 

Then I opened up the VICE and saw articles on such revolutionary topics like the TV show “My So Called Life” and the band “Pavement”.  Did I happen to mention that they even got Richard Kern to do a re-make of the CK ONE ads!  Jenny Shimizu returned to model (my lesbian hero when i was 15). She bagged fucking Madonna – WTF and even looks the same 15 years later! 

They also slipped in some ‘Vintage’ Ricky Powell pics of some white rappers called “The Beastie Boys” before there was a show about it. 

There’s a bunch of dope shit in there. Made me really nostalgic and actually inspired for once. I don’t know if it’s because I went to a rave on Saturday night, so I am feeling like the 90′s were really cool…or maybe they just are!
