WHAT A WEEEEKEND! I certainly have a lot to be thankful for. First, we took a trip to Atlantic City and ended up in a club with Palm Trees and a pool. Ni and Nat killed it encore une fois. Then, we spent the whole Thanksgiving Day tossing salads. Check them out below, works of ART! Basically the rest of the weekend was spent dancing!
Mad Decent’s First Lady and Super Dominican, Maluca drops the video for her smash single, El Tigeraso. Peep her in the Rose Moto Jacket from our Tough Love collection!
I love Maluca! Growing up in Washington Heights, I can really identify with this video. From the rollers in her hair, riding your bike in chancletas, the viejos outside the bodega and guys trying to holler knowing they don’t stand a chance…That is the heights in a nutshell. She hasn’t lost touch with her roots. Instead of shunning them, she is embracing them and I CAN DIG IT!
PLATANO POWER!
Maluca recently performed at ONE STEP BEYOND at the Museum of Natural History. TONE got some great footage of her shutting it down with the dinosaurs.
Yesterday we took a trip to the Museum of Modern Art to check out the opening day of the Tim Burton exhibition. The crowd was insane! But for the man who created 2 of my favorite movies, Edward Scissor Hands and Beetle Juice the hour wait was well worth it.
The exhibit encompasses his drawings, paintings, photographs, moving images, concept art, storyboards, puppets, and costumes, from such films as Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, Beetle Juice, Edward Scissor Hands, The NIghtmare Before Christmas, Batman, Batman Returns, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Planet of the Apes, Sleepy Hallow, Ed Wood and Mars Attacks! I definitley reccomend getting to see the exhibit, it’s like a magical mystery ride through the dark and imaginative mind of Mr. Burton. The scope of his career and body of work is very impressive. Running until April 26, 2010.
No photo’s allowed, but I tried to catch a few snaps for the blog.
MES AMIES Cedric Haughton and Anthony Hendrickson of Third Floor New York know a thing or two about fashion. From cropped leather tops to shorts and mesh to futuristic see-through sleeves, Third Floor is a force to be wreckoned with.
These two talented gentlemen always host our monthly parties at Ella (Our House) and let me just say, they turn it out everytime!
Cedric is one of the prettiest people I know. He looks better than most women. Don’t believe me? See for yourself.
I have had such a LONG love affair with Jim Henson’s Muppets. So, it’s been a life-long dream come true to make my very own INSPIRATIONAL, CELEBRATIONAL, MUPPETATIONAL version of myself.
The Muppets WHAT NOT WORKSHOP opened through FOA SCHWARZ in October 2008, and now you can make your own for $130.00 (what a steal!). It’s pretty rad, check it out here: MUPPETS WHATNOT WORKSHOP
YOU CAN MAKE YOURSELF AS A FUCKING MUPPET. It’s so revelutionary that it makes me wanna sing…”It’s time to put on makeup, It’s time to dress up right , It’s time to raise the curtain on the Muppet Show tonight. ”
My boo boo James Blagden just knocked a couple animated shorts out the BOX. WE LOVE JAMES BLAGDEN (but you already knew that).
DOCK ELLIS & THE LSD NO-NO (made in partnership with NO MAS)
In June of 1970, Dock Phillip Ellis Jr., a major league pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, threw a no-hitter while high on acid and Benzedrine. Featuring a narration by Dock himself & animation by James Blagden, “THE LSD NO-NO” is the telling of this legendary tale, straight from the horse’s mouth.
Here’s another little jam. James Brown vs. Muhammad Ali “GOAT vs. GFOS”:
We LOVE denim. Really, who doesn’t? Denim is probably America’s most renown contribution to fashion. With it’s beginnings routed in workwear in the late eighteenth century, denim has transcended every decade. As we approach 2010 check out some of MADEME’s personal FAVES:
